Manchester United are through to the Champions League quarter finals after beating Lyon 1-0 via one of the most unspectacular goals that Christiano Ronaldo has ever scored.
With Giggs and Scholes on the bench it was a workman-like display by United, epitomised by the hardworking and much improved Darren Fletcher, but it was Ronaldo's scrappy goal at the end of the first half that handed United their tenth straight home win in the competition.
Despite Ferguson's protestations that he doesn't mind who he meets in the next round, be it a foreign or domestic team, he knows he can beat Arsenal following their win over them in the FA Cup recently. One suspects that United will also feel that Arsenal have done them a huge favour knocking out the holders AC Milan.
