Chelsea in £25 million race for striker
10th December 2007

By Staff Writer

Chelsea look set to rekindle their interest in £25 million rated Valencia striker David Villa after the player was subjected to abuse by his club's own fans last weekend.

Villa is unsettled at Valencia despite previously committing himself to the club following interest from Chelsea and fellow Premiership rivals Manchester United.

The source of that ill feeling was the abuse directed at Villa by the club's fans during last week's 3-0 defeat at the hands of Athletic Bilbao.

Both Chelsea and United are in the market for a new striker in January and both could renew their interest in the Spanish international.
